Dental Fillings, Inlays & Onlays

At our Kelowna dental clinic, our dentists use white composite fillings to repair tooth decay and help restore the tooth's function and structure.

Filling Cavities Left by Tooth Decay

Cavities, chips and cracks in your teeth can allow for tooth decay to eat away at your tooth structure. Luckily, if the issue is caught early and the decay is cleared away by your dentist, your tooth will just need a simple patch in the form of a dental filling to restore its strength and function.

A dental filling is used to repair a cavity or tooth damage. Although fillings can be made from a number of materials, at Midtown Kelowna Dental we offer tooth-coloured composite fillings to our patients. If your tooth has been extensively decayed, there are other restorative options available such as an inlay or onlay.

If you have a cavity or decayed tooth, your dentist will decide the best restorative option for you. Ultimately, the best type of dental filling is no dental filling. You may be able to dramatically decrease your risk of cavities and other dental diseases with good dental hygiene and prevention.

Composite Fillings

Composite resin, or tooth-coloured fillings, are durable and can be used on either front or back teeth. Your filling will be matched to the colour of your existing teeth. With proper care, most dental fillings can last for many years. They are not, however, permanent and may need to be replaced.

Inlays & Onlays

When a tooth is too damaged to support a standard filling, but not damaged enough to require a dental crown, these dental restorations can be used to fill a cavity in the tooth. Inlays are used to repair decay between the cusps of a tooth, and onlays are used to cover the cusps.
